Keeping Your Projects Moving
Aggregates FAQs
Choosing the right aggregates for your project can feel confusing with so many different types and specifications available. These frequently asked questions answer the most common queries we receive about aggregate hire, from understanding which materials suit different jobs to working out how much you need and how delivery works.
What types of aggregates do you supply?
We supply a wide range of aggregates including MOT Type 1, sub-base materials, sharp sand, building sand, ballast, topsoil, recycled aggregates, and decorative stone. If you need something specific, let us know and we will source it for you.
Can you deliver aggregates directly to site?
Yes. All of our aggregates are delivered directly to your site by our own vehicles. We can tip loose loads or deliver in bulk bags depending on your requirements and site access.
What quantity of aggregates can I order?
We supply aggregates in quantities to suit your project, from single loads through to ongoing supply agreements for large developments. Whether you need a one-off delivery or regular drops throughout your build programme, we can accommodate it.
How do I know which aggregate is right for my project?
If you are not sure which material you need, our team can help. Just tell us what the aggregate is being used for, such as sub-base, drainage, backfill, or landscaping, and we will recommend the right product.
PAverose Hire
digger hire faqs
Hiring a digger for the first time often raises questions about which machine you need, whether you need an operator, and how the hire process works. These frequently asked questions answer the most common queries we receive about digger hire, from choosing the right sized excavator to understanding costs and site requirements.
What size diggers do you have available?
We offer excavators ranging from 0.8-tonne micro diggers right up to 13-tonne machines. The right size for your project will depend on the type of work, dig depth required, and site access.
Can I hire a digger without an operator?
Yes, we offer digger hire on a self-drive basis for customers who have their own qualified operators. We also offer operated hire if you need a machine with a CPCS-qualified operator included.
What is the minimum hire period for a digger?
Our minimum hire period is typically one day. We also offer weekly and long-term hire rates, which can work out more cost-effective for larger projects.
Do I need any qualifications to operate a hired digger?
Yes. If you are hiring a digger on a self-drive basis, the operator must hold a valid CPCS or NPORS card for the relevant machine category. This is a legal and site safety requirement.

Grab hire FAQs
Paverose Hire provides grab hire, aggregates, digger hire, and operated plant hire across Essex, London, Kent, and the South East. Based in Chelmsford, we are well placed to reach sites throughout the region quickly and keep your project moving.
If you are not sure whether we cover your area, get in touch and we will let you know.
What is grab hire?
Grab hire is a fast and efficient way to remove waste, soil, rubble, and other materials from your site. A grab lorry uses a hydraulic arm to load materials directly from the ground, so there is no need for extra plant or manual loading. It is one of the quickest methods of muck away and site clearance available.
What materials can a grab lorry collect?
Our grab lorries can collect soil, clay, concrete, rubble, green waste, mixed construction waste, and other inert materials. If you are unsure whether your material is suitable, get in touch and we will advise you.
How much can a grab lorry carry?
Our grab lorries can carry payloads of up to 16 tonnes per load. The exact amount will depend on the type of material being collected, as heavier materials such as concrete and rubble take up less space than lighter materials like topsoil.
Do I need a permit for grab hire?
If the grab lorry can park on your site or on private land, no permit is needed. If the lorry needs to park on a public road, you may need a road permit from the local council. We can advise you on this when you book.
How quickly can you get a grab lorry to my site?
In most cases, we can have a grab lorry on your site within 24 to 48 hours. For urgent jobs, give us a call and we will do our best to arrange same-day or next-day service.
